UNIFORM HISTORY

Can we even consider the Ducks promoting a primary home or road uniform at this point in Eugene?

Like the football program, Oregon’s basketball team has given Phil Knight and Nike a free canvas over the last 15 years to do what they want with the Ducks’ on-court apparel.

Oregon has donned white and kelly green at home and the inverse on the road throughout, but electric yellow alternates as well as black road threads with yellow accents have stuck around too. One of Oregon’s current road alternates is a “FIGHTING DUCKS” hot green combination with yellow, nearly volt accents.

The Ducks have another “FIGHTING DUCKS” combination that’s vibrant yellow with contrasting green accents. The secondary shorts logo on both models is Oregon’s “Donald Duck” graphic instead of the school’s recognizable “O”.

In 2010, Oregon capitalized on the black alternate trend with unique “Blackout” threads, black jerseys and pants that were free of any color except for hot yellow numerals. For the most part away from home, the Ducks use an “OREGON” wordmark across jerseys.

Inside Oregon’s home arena that features a custom “Deep in the Woods” floor, “DUCKS” is the preferred name across uniforms. A closer look at Oregon’s swoosh personalized hardwood reveals brown and tan silhouettes of a fir tree forest.

Oregon’s “O” logo sits in the middle above a Japanese torii “MATT” design in honor of Knight’s late son who died in a scuba diving accident.

Nike’s first major Oregon redesign came in 2000, long before the swoosh’s Hyper Elite and Pro Combat lines. Trend-setting features then included gripper elastic inside the team’s waistband and a material insert that allowed for an improved range of motion. Night green and lightning yellow replaced the Ducks’ traditional kelly green and gold scheme and have been in place ever since.
