UNIFORM HISTORY

Under Armour has pushed the envelope on the hardwood in Lubbock since becoming Texas Tech’s official outfitter in 2008.

For the 2012 season, the uniform overhaul included eliminating the program’s long-standing “TEXAS TECH” wordmark for a more modern “TECH” look. “TEXAS” is now written in tiny font inside the T in “TECH”. Various sized zebra-like stripes down the sides of shorts and jerseys are a welcomed addition that makes the Red Raiders appear fast.

In response to Adidas rolling out new uniforms for conference tournaments in 2013, Under Armour made its presence felt with new threads for a few of its sponsored schools. The Red Raiders’ new “Lone Star” home look features Tech’s alternate logo, the school’s “TT” mark in front of the state of Texas, instead of a wordmark across the front.

Gameday shorts were similar to the Nike style Team USA donned in the 2012 Summer Olympics, white with contrasting team-specific panels and a multi-colored star pressed onto the thigh. Jersey shoulders are black with a red collar.

Prior to the Red Raiders’ contract with Under Armour, Texas Tech worked with Adidas on the hardwood with heavy wordmarked jerseys, thick numerals and wide-paneled shorts. During their partnership with the three stripes, the Red Raiders donned white at home and black on the road much different than their current threads with UA.
