The West Virginia Mountaineers currently have a uniform contract with Nike. We have 10 basketball uniforms in our database for the West Virginia Mountaineers and are working to add more to Uniform Critics. Feel free to contact us with any uniform designs for this team that we may be missing.

The Mountaineers moved into the Nike Hyper Elite realm in 2011 after playing five seasons in a swoosh redesign made specifically for West Virginia in the mid 2000s.

Current uniforms feature blocked numerals that separate a one-tone “WEST VIRGINIA” wordmark that is the same color as the Mountaineers’ uniforms depending on what style is worn — white, gold or navy.

The swoosh’s Hyper Elite threads are of significantly lighter construction, feature ergonomic designs for better fit and airflow, laser-perforated ventilation holes through the shorts and a school-specific “mural” on the back of the jersey under the numbers.

These “Aerographics” are unique to several Nike-sponsored programs. West Virginia’s current shorts have four diagonal contrasting slashes on each thigh. During the 2010 Final Four before Nike’s Hyper Elite movement, the Mountaineers flexed black alternates with gold accents inside the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.

In the early 2000s under the swoosh, wide contrasting panels, screen-printed graphics and stripe collars and armpits were indicative of Nike’s on-court apparel.

Nike will likely introduce team specific font and numerals on the hardwood in the near future since the Mountaineers’ football team is set debut a new brand of specially tailored swoosh apparel for 2013.
