There was a large controversy surrounding this Under Armour uniform. It was designed to support the Wounded Warrior Project and was worn by the Gamecocks on October 1st, 2011. During the warm ups, a controversy arose regarding if the numbers were too dark to be seen. They were ruled to be illegible and the jerseys could not be worn during the game. South Carolina changed into their black jerseys for the game. Below are photos of both uniforms worn that day.
Over a month later, both Texas Tech and South Florida wore similar uniforms honoring the Wounded Warrior Project in this “Believe In Heroes” uniform series. You can click on the links to view those unis and notice how Under Armour changed the design of the numbers to make them more legible, especially on the similar Texas Tech jersey.
