The Cavaliers wore throwback uniforms from the 1968 team that went 7-3 and featured ACC Player of the Year Frank Quayle. Quayle, a halfback, was honored at halftime of the game for his time as a player and as a broadcaster for 29 years. During his career, Quayle rushed for 2,695 yards and caught 83 passes for 1,145 yards.
The uniforms are a lot of fun. They’re classy and they do have a true throwback feel. The helmet has sort of a BYU look to it with the “V” encapsulated by the oval. The helmets also featured a special decal as a salute to Quayle.
Even the game programs were retro with a cover that was a tribute to the era. The uniform was much different than the retro design worn in 2008 based on the 1984-1993 style.
