The Illinois Fighting Illini currently have a uniform contract with Nike. We have 13 basketball uniforms in our database for the Illinois Fighting Illini and are working to add more to Uniform Critics. Feel free to contact us with any uniform designs for this team that we may be missing.

The Illini’s color-fade wordmark on their home white Nike Hyper Elite uniforms is one of the neatest features in college basketball and sets them apart from the rest of the Big Ten when it comes to uniform design.

The team’s swatch of orange and navy in a diamond on the side panels of shorts as well as a stripe at the bottom that borrows ideas from the school’s secondary “Chief” logo are unique details. One of the swoosh’s top schools unveiled the uniform revamp prior to the 2011-12 season.

The Hyper Elite product line features lightweight, moisture-wicking material that is noticeably lighter than previous uniforms. Perforated ventilation on shorts adds breathability for players. Illinois is one of four Nike teams in the Big Ten that incorporates the company’s new Aerographics into its uniforms joining Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue and Ohio State.

On the Illini’s threads, Nike incorporated a custom pattern inspired by Assembly Hall, Foellinger Auditorium and the Urbana-Champaign campus I mark. Current Hyper Elite combinations include a white, orange and navy set.

The wordmark of choice across the school’s home threads is “ILLIN” while the program’s full name decorates the primary road and secondary choices. On each pair of shorts, the Illini’s secondary “I within a basketball” graphic appears at the knee.

In the early 2000s under Nike, Illinois preferred the shimmery finish threads with wide piping on jerseys and shorts.
